CHIYOGAMI patterns are thought to bring good luck and act as talismans against evil.
CHIYOGAMI was invented in Kyoto when some nobles began to decorate paper on which they wrote Japanese tanka poems. Good luck patterns were then printed on it and CHIYOGAMI became widely used on fabrics, wallpapers, furnishing and of course, Origami.
